What this country is going through now is great tribulation, and we need Christians to stand up in faith and Do Something (and not just anything), instead of merely sending up dead prayers!
Let me explain...Paul said "Faith without works is dead", so in my paraphrase "Prayers without faith is dead". Faith is a verb; a verb shows action! What we have here is a lot of prayers without much action!
Let's show some action!
But be careful, and pray before you do. As Christians, we are also to be led by the Holy Spirit of God.
In this country today, one mans' objection to the words "one nation UNDER GOD, indivisible, etc., have led to the removal of those words in several states! If one man (and he without Christ) can do such a thing, what can one Christian WITH Christ do? Perhaps the Lord would have YOU to fight against this man's works by fighting FOR Christ in this country!

Your opinion is important!
Jesus is important, too! How He wants us to serve Him, and the things we learn along the way, are what make life so special. The Bible tells us to "Comfort one another with the same comfort wherewith we are comforted by God," so as we learn and are comforted or blessed in some way, we should be passing that on to others!
The Forum is a place where you can share what God has taught you.
Romans 8 tells us "There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
This is hard for some of us, since we spend most of our time working on fleshly matters...but if you will spend an entire WEEK concentrating on spiritual things, you will find your life much improved! Try it and see if God doesn't Bless you!
It is because doing it (walking in the Spirit) is so hard for us that God blesses us so - whenever we show God our faith by overcoming and doing something that is against our nature, He blesses us!
We are to believe that God IS, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him!
Lots of people want to serve God, but don't know how...and it's not as hard as you might think!
Go to your pastor first, and ask what he might have you do. Other options are :
1. Visit nursing homes, reading or talking to the elderly. Pretend you are talking to Jesus, and treat them with the same love and respect you would Him. Ask the nurses at the home you visit for suggestions on how you can best enjoy your visit without interrupting their daily routine.
2. Visit the jail in your area. This can normally be done through your church - ask your minister to help.
3. Visit the sick in your area. The pastor can help here, too!
4. Visit those people in church who haven't attend in awhile...maybe there's a good reason they haven't come, and YOU could be the person God wants to use to help them get back on their feet, and into church again!
5. Visit the hospitals in your area...you can read or visit or just pray with the folks there...all it takes is a willing spirit!
Always remember to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance!
Some things you should not do:
Get drunk or use drugs
waste all your time in front of the television
abuse others
blame others for your own unhappiness
avoid God
Remember to do your best - God doesn't want your leftovers -He wants to be put 1st! Want a recipe for success in your life? then check out Psalms 1!
"Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and in His Law does he meditate day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water which brings forth his fruit in season abundantly...his leaf shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper!"
Test yourself: see if your meeting all of the conditions above...if your not, then change your behavior, and watch God work as you begin to overcome the temptations in your life.
Remember, you're doing this for God, and as a response to Jesus's love for you, not for selfish gain.
Psalms 1 should always be taken with a good dose of James Chapter 1, which is an excellent chapter to read if your prayers are not being answered. Read it and you'll see what I mean!
The Lord rewards faith, and loves to have His children come to Him with their requests! Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In ALL YOUR WAYS acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths!
Once you've prayed and asked the Lord for guidance, go to your pastor and talk things over with him...or if you feel more comfortable talking to a deacon, or perhaps a mature Christian friend, go ahead! Sometime the Lord will speak to you through one of His servants...and help you along your way! Pray and ask the Lord to make you sensitive to His desires, and give you wisdom to better serve Him! |
